Commissioner Jean Monestime
District 2, Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners
In November 2014, Commissioner Monestime was chosen unanimously by his peers to serve as Chairman of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners for two years. In this position, he re-presents more than 2.7 million people and presides over a county commission that sets the priori-ties for an annual budget that is larger than 17 states and 78 countries. A former public school teacher and an adjunct university professor. He's currently President of JEMO Realty, Inc., a full-service real estate and insurance company, and JEMO Enterprises, LLC, a business consulting agency. He obtained his MBA from the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship and holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Florida International University. He is also a graduate of Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
